In the first round, Rojas came out to command the competition with 14.60 m in his first attempt. However, the Jamaican Shanieka Ricketts surpassed her with a 14.89 m momentarily.
In the second presentation, the Venezuelan took the confidence that characterizes her and flew towards 15, 47 m. This was enough to set the course for the competition and secure his sixth world crown between indoor and outdoor world championships.
On her third attempt, the Caracas native jumped 15.24m allowing her to continue to lead the competition over Ricketts. Her fourth and fifth attempts were failures and she was left for the end, where she finished with 15.39 m.
The silver medal went to the Jamaican with her 14.89m while Tori Franklin, from the United States, took the bronze with 14.72m.
Now Yulimar Rojas will have a very short break to get to his residence in Guadalajara, Spain, where he will do a preparation phase for the Diamond League at his stop in Monaco on August 10
