The cross-country skiers ended their race week with a medal when the Finnish team grabbed bronze in the 4×5 kilometer mixed race. The team skied IWed Melnits, Elsa Torvinen, Niko Anttola and Fanny Kukonlehto.

The quartet, which participated in the combined mixed team competition in Lahti, decided the Finnish performances Alva Thors, Herman Happonen, Annamaija Aries and Eelis Meriläinen. As a result, Austria won four places in the competition.

The European Youth Olympic Festival is a competition event for European athletes aged 14-18.

“It’s just great to have won so many medals and a number of points in addition to them. The athletes performed really well, ”said team leader Janne Vuorinen.

Vuorinen saw the competition as an important part of the athlete’s path and recalled the importance of long-term preparation and a multi-sport value experience.
