For the second week in a row, the Arab Youth Center continued to present a series of educational lectures and interactive workshops, as part of the Young Arab Media Leaders Program in its sixth edition, which continues until June 6.
The lectures and workshops were presented by specialists and officials in media institutions for 53 young men and women from 16 Arab countries.
The center hosted Jamal Nasser Al-Suwaider, Executive Director of the News Content Sector at the Emirates News Agency (WAM), who spoke about his experience in the media sector and the challenges faced by its workers. He said: “The challenges faced by young media professionals are greater than others in other sectors, especially In light of technical developments,” he pointed out the need to follow a clear path based on scientific and professional foundations, starting with academic study, passing through training, and reaching goals.
He recounted his professional experience in the world of media, especially in the Emirates News Agency, stressing the importance of developing the content industry, in accordance with the controls of news publishing and verifying rumours, and pointing to the importance of “mobile journalism” and the need to differentiate between harmful and beneficial content.
He said that the challenge facing young people today is “daily learning,” which is based on continuous work and correct thinking.
For his part, Hamoud Al Junaibi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, spoke about the Authority’s projects and initiatives around the world, and the role of the media in shedding light on them.
He stressed the importance of creating charitable and relief content to help marginalized groups and those affected, stressing that humanity unites the world despite its differences, and that this value is rooted in the UAE’s approach, calling for raising young people to love charitable work and helping others.
As part of the program’s activities, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center hosted a number of young Arab media figures and influencers, who visited the center’s halls and corridors, and learned about its pivotal role in building bridges of cultural communication and rapprochement between the various cultures of the world, and what distinguishes it from other places of worship. They also viewed The mosque is full of aesthetics and details that express the richness of Islamic architecture.
The members attended a workshop entitled “The Role of the Media in Formulating the Concepts of Tolerance and Peace,” presented by His Excellency Dr. Yousef Al-Obaidli, Director General of the Centre, during which he touched on the history of the mosque and its message stemming from the thought and vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” and shed light on Its role in spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence through the projects and initiatives it launches and the cultural series it produces. It also addressed the impact of the media in promoting the values of tolerance and enhancing the unity and cohesion of society.
In turn, Ali Al Salloum, Executive Director of Maestro Events Group, spoke during a meeting with the program’s representatives about the importance of building identity and the impact of media discourse stemming from inspiration and unique experiences.
Sky News Arabia Academy organized two workshops for the program’s members, at the headquarters of the Arab Youth Center. The first was presented by journalist Faisal bin Hariz, during which the participants learned about the basics of news work and television presenting, and the importance of specialization in work through creativity and keeping pace with development, while the second was presented by Abdullah Abu Diak. , a trainer at the academy, in which he addressed the creation of digital content through artificial intelligence, pointing out the need for television channels to keep pace with digital development under the slogan “Digitization First.”
In a lecture entitled “The Importance of Speech and the Power of the Word,” Suhaib Al-Falooji from the “Derayah Speakers” platform provided an explanation on how to confront societal problems by using the word as a powerful and effective tool, stressing the need for program members to possess speech and discourse skills, especially since the Arabic language is rich in vocabulary. And its various uses.
The Arab Youth Center presented an introductory lecture on the “Young Leaders in the Third Sector” program, entitled: “Creating future leaders for development and humanitarian work in the Arab world.”
Noura Al Zaabi, director of the program, explained that it aims to prepare and qualify young people to work in the third sector, which includes development and humanitarian work and social investment, which contributes to accelerating the pace of development in the Arab region.
She pointed out that the first edition of the “Young Leaders in the Third Sector” program targets 20 young men and women under the age of 35, and will be launched in conjunction with “World Humanitarian Day,” which falls on August 19, 2024, explaining that the program includes three stages that combine theoretical and experimental education and acquiring Skills, in addition to practical training and simulation of realistic models to enhance young people’s opportunities to assume leadership positions.
In turn, Jawaher Bani Hammad, Director of the Partnerships Department and the Arab Youth Pioneers Initiative at the Center, explained the plan for the third cycle of the initiative, which was launched for the first time in 2018, noting that it celebrates the achievements of Arab youth by providing new opportunities for partnerships and joint work, which enhances their contributions to Promoting growth in the Arab world and inspiring future generations.
The Young Arab Media Leaders Program is one of the pioneering initiatives launched by the Arab Youth Center, and aims to develop young media leaders capable of interacting with modern challenges in the field of media and communication, by providing intensive and diverse training that includes lectures, workshops, and field visits, leading to the development of the industry.
