We should have seen this coming. There are some nasty Ferraris coming.
Ferrari has always been a special brand. One of the last real sports car brands. Porsche was too, but they mainly sell plug-in hybrid crossovers. Even stylish brands such as Jaguar, Aston Martin and Maserati are in favor.
So yes, it is not surprising that Ferrari would eventually change tack. It’s just very unfortunate. You get a vehicle that is very far removed from the brand values. It is precisely those brand values that make you have more affinity with a product and they are diluted a bit. But yes, that little bit of water in the wine does result in an extremely large amount of extra pecunia and pecunia, so as a company you would be crazy if you didn’t come up with a crossover.
We also have to honestly admit that some crossovers are quite good. Such a Levante with a 400 hp V6 sounds and handles better than many other cars in that class. And @wouter recently found out how good the DBX actually is. The disadvantage for those manufacturers is that you cannot influence what the tuners will do with your products. And the worst is Keyvany.
Crunchy Ferrari
Keyvany is a company that is most reminiscent of Mansory. That is not surprising, because Keyvany belongs to a former Mansory employee. This is not a strange phenomenon. Did you know that the founder of Novitec worked at Ruf? Now it is! At Keyvany they aim for the person with a lot of money and very distinct tastes. To quote Bert Visscher: you don’t expect it, do you?
Anyway, they have shown the first images of their vision of the Purosangue and it is so terribly wrong that it is right again. Think of it as ‘Kevin and Perry Go Large‘, but with 23 inch wheels. The Keyvany body kit consists of a lot of parts and none of them seem to be an improvement aesthetically. This kit is so extensive that carbon is indeed the only material you can use, because the Purosangue would otherwise be very heavy due to all that Tupperware.
980 hp!
According to Keyvany, the kit was designed in the wind tunnel and as everyone knows, that only produces ugly cars. Much more important are the technical upgrades. The top version of this tough Ferrari has 980 hp and 1,170 Nm. It is not entirely clear whether this is based on the V12 or the V8. Keyvany already has some upgrades for the biturbo eight-cylinder, but they do not get that far (without electrical support). The performance will therefore be brilliant for the type of car. Then again, yes.
Prices are not yet known, but keep in mind that Keyvany only modifies the most expensive cars. So you probably won’t get the body kit for 10 grand. But yes, as we said, it is very important in this case that you have more money than taste, otherwise things can quickly go wrong in the sales conversation.
