Yamaha, Jarvis greetings
Lin Jarvis he will no longer be the general director of the Yamaha team in the 2025 season. The Briton will step aside at the end of the season, at the end of a period which saw the Iwata company protagonist of the Honda-Ducati interregnum together with the talent of Fabio Quartararo. However, the last two years have been very difficult, and 2024 hasn't started off under a good star either. Jarvis will no longer lead the rebirth of Yamaha but he has nevertheless laid the foundations for the future with the renewal of Diablo. In its place the Japanese company has opted for an internal solution.
Jarvis himself announced the farewell Autosport: “This will be my last season at Yamaha, I will leave at the end of the year. I will decide later what to do and what to dedicate my time to. I founded the factory team in 1999. It's been an unusually long time. I'm 66 now and I'm starting to get a little tired of travelling“.
“I have been doing this job for 26 years and it is extraordinary that the same person leads a project, in a factory, for such a long period. The time has come to do something new: we must be able to close my chapter and start the new one, in harmony. It is the best solution for both parties. We have already identified the candidate who will most likely become my successoreven if it hasn't been made official yet: it will be a man from the Yamaha group, who will take my place in January next year“.
Jarvis' adventure with Yamaha began in 1993 as marketing and communications manager, then in 1999 he became Managing Director Yamaha. With the Iwata house Jarvis won eight titles, including four with Valentino Rossi, three with Jorge Lorenzo and one with Quartararo.
