According to the latest figures reported by the site IGN, growth in Xbox Game Pass subscribers disappoints Microsoft, given the recent slowdown in the number of new members. The figures are all positive, but they are not what the company had set itself internally for the fiscal year 2021.
More precisely, subscriptions increased by 37.5%, less than the expected target of 47.8%, as also reported by some official documents released yesterday. Compared to last year, the target was a 71% increase, surpassed by an 86% increase in subscribers, which exceeded Microsoft’s expectations.
Despite the arrival of new titles every month, just yesterday the second part for the month of October was announced, Xbox Game Pass aims to bring tons of new games to day one, but at the moment there have been relatively few. Some of these include Microsoft Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2 and others, which, however, do not seem to have enticed users to subscribe.
The service though has had tons of updates regarding compatible devices, in addition to the future possibility of being able to arrive even on TVs, together with the arrival of the possibility of playing in Cloud mode also on consoles. These innovations allow all users to make the most of the huge library of games, with most devices on the market.

A few months ago, former Sony president Shawn Layden stated how, for him, Xbox Game Pass is not a sustainable system, underlining how this service also depends on the internet connection and other factors. Despite this point of view, the subscriptions continue to grow and are definitely positive, even if they do not exceed the expectations of the company itself.
Surely the recent decline in Xbox Game Pass user growth disappoints Microsoft, but the fact remains that the numbers are still very high, underlining how the public continues to prefer such a system.
