Italian army experts on Sunday detonated a World War II bomb in the north of the country, in an operation that saw the evacuation of 3,000 people from the area around the site where the bomb was discovered.
The Italian news agency ANSA reported that the 450-kilogram bomb was detected in the Po River near Mantua, about 160 kilometers southeast of Milan, and taken to a cave about 45 kilometers away, where it was detonated in a controlled manner.
