New challenge for Mercedes
With the presentation of the new W15, the Mercedes is preparing to start the season 2024 with the first tests scheduled in Bahrain from the 21st to the 23rd, in the same country and on the same circuit where the championship will start. A year which, even before the tests, has already seen first-rate developments for the Brackley team, especially as regards the drivers market. In 2025, in fact, there will no longer be the presence of Lewis Hamiltonalready announced as Ferrari's new driver after his debut with Mercedes in 2013 and the conquest of six world titles.
The pilots
“We knew our partnership with Lewis would end one day – declared the Team Principal Toto Wolff in an interview reported by the official Mercedes channels – we were thinking maybe late 2025, so the timing was a surprise, but I respect the decision he made. This year nothing has changed for us, our goal remains the same. We have two excellent drivers. With George we have a fast, talented, intelligent driver behind the wheel, and he has a solid foundation for the future. With Lewis we have a motivated multiple world champion and we want the his last year with us is his most successful. They both know what they have to do, and that's really good for us. It is also an exciting opportunity for years to come. We have the opportunity to define the future direction and stability of our driver line-up towards the next era of F1. This will be fundamental for the team's continued journey towards the top places, and we will take all the time necessary to do it as best we can.”
