LIVE TWITTERThey would have been comrades in prison, soon Jos Brech and Bekir E. will face each other in the court of appeal in Den Bosch. According to murderer E. Brech was empty about the disappearance and death of Nicky Verstappen, today he tells about their conversations. Remarkable: in prison E. would have borrowed a book about the case.
Later today, E. will speak in court. But first, a DNA expert is heard this morning, Ate Kloosterman. He is questioned about the DNA traces of Brech. These were mainly found on Nicky Verstappen’s underpants, who had the boy on inside out when he was found dead in 1998. It is mainly about how carefully found material was handled, lawyer Gerald Roethof asks questions about this. The expert actually does not understand why so many questions are being asked about possible contamination (contamination) of spores. “We found little or no traces of contamination in this case.”
Sander V., the murderer of Milly Boele, has also been heard behind the scenes. He was on the ward with E. and Brech and told about their relationship. According to E., Brech and he were good friends. If that was the case, it has been over since his statement – E. has now also been transferred to another prison, Brech is still in Vught.
denies
Brech firmly denies that he told E. about the disappearance and death of Nicky Verstappen, but he admits that the two had contact. What does not help E. is that during his own trial – he killed 16-year-old Humeyra – he was described by experts as, among other things, ‘lying and manipulative’. Now it appears from the judge’s words that E. also borrowed a book about the Verstappen case in prison, written by Simon Vuyk. This makes it even more difficult to distinguish what E. really heard from Brech, if Brech has already spoken about the case in which he always invoked his right to remain silent or told that he was innocent.
The Verstappen family is again in the room, no longer assisted by the murdered Peter R. de Vries, but his son Royce. A first hearing in the case is scheduled for Monday. Nicky Verstappen disappeared from a summer camp on Brunssummerheide in 1998, eventually being found dead nearby. It was not until many years later that a DNA match could be made with Brech.
