He delivered the Antonio Garcia Cubas Award 2022, for Best Book and Editorial Work in anthropology and history at the national level, with the aim of stimulating the production of books on the cultural heritage of Mexico.
Award that took place during the inauguration of the 33rd International Anthropology and History Book Fair (FILAH), the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Mexico, through the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).
Prize awarded each year in 10 categories, the jury awarded the prize to seven works in the same number of categories, and another 11 with honorific mention.
In total, more than 100 texts from 40 publishing houses from educational and research institutions and independents competed.
In the category Scientific Work, the award went to the book Album of Forbidden Plants, by María del Carmen Tostado Gutiérrez, from the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM), the honorable mentions went to Xochimiquiztli la muerte florida.
Human sacrifice among the Mexica, by Patrick Johansson K., from the Institute of Historical Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM); and Rediscovering the audiovisual ethnographic archive, coordinated by Antonio Zirión Pérez, from the UAM, received an honorable mention.
What Outreach Work, the winner was the book ‘Astronomy in Mexico before and after the conquest’, coordinated by Susana Lizano and Luis Felipe Rodríguez Jorge, from El Colegio Nacional.
The award in the category Historical novel it was for The Fourth Horseman, by Verónica Murguía, from Ediciones Era, and the honorable mention went to Forget the fire, by the writer Gabriela Riveros, edited by Lumen.
The song of the insects, by the writer Erika Notni, from Nostra Ediciones, won the category award Youth Work.
In the category Art BookRodrigo Moya. Mexico, by several authors, edition of the Museum of the Palace of Fine Arts-National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, was the winner.
In Category Catalogthe award went to Them and Us/Ellos y nos, by Marcos Ramírez Erre, edition of El Colegio de la Frontera Norte.
Under the Facsimile Edition category the Anonymous Otomí Dictionary of the National Library of Mexico was awarded. Volume I, II, III and IV, by the editors Doris Bartholomew and Yolanda Lastra, from the Institute of Bibliographic Research/Institute of Anthropological Research UNAM; and Bulletin at the service of Spanish emigration (August 15, 1939 – August 17, 1940), coordinated by Fernando Serrano Migallón, edition of the UNAM, El Colegio de México and Ateneo Español de México AC.
For the Scientific eBook category only honorable mention was given, which went to the Catalog and study of the Santa Cruz de Mompox Musical Archive (AMSCM), by Leopoldo Flores Valenzuela and María Alejandra de Ávila López.
In this edition there was no winner in the categories of: Children’s Work, School Textbook and Scientific Electronic Book.
