On the eve of the first round of the pre-season tests in Barcelona, scheduled from 23 to 25 February, several drivers have already had the opportunity to test their respective cars over the course of a few short shakedown, useful for detecting the main differences in adaptation between this year’s cars and those of last season. Among the teams already on the track in the last few days, there was no lack of a historical team like the Williamsprotagonist of a few laps on the track of Silverstone.
For the occasion, the British manufacturer – which this year will welcome Alex Albon as a new driver after George Russell’s departure – has entrusted the new FW44 to the Canadian Nicholas Latifi, author of the very first km completed by the newborn single-seater. In addition, Grove’s team has taken the 26-year-old’s lead again with an interesting one camera on board, with the video later posted on Williams’ official social pages. Although the pace is obviously not high, thanks to the nature of the shakedown and the adverse conditions of the track, it is however curious to note the rather different view compared to that to which viewers were accustomed to observe until 2021: specifically, this is due to the new regulation on the size of front tiresincreased 13 to 18 inches.
