The sizes of clothing items may vary depending on the store where they are purchased or even the model. It is quite common that when choosing a style of pants and a specific size, it fits us like a glove, but when choosing another cut we realize that we need a size more or less. The same thing happens when we change businesses. However, one of the main mysteries in the world of fashion is: why does this happen when the pants are the same model, but the only thing that changes is the color.
Surely, this is a problem that many people have encountered. And, logically, the idea that since they are the same pants they will fit us in the same way is not so far-fetched. But why does this happen?
Marta Camín, known on TikTok (@immartacamin) for uploading content related to the world of fashion, has shared a video in which she explained the reason why two pants of the same model, but with a different color, have two different sizes . The 'tiktoker' uploaded the video after a follower asked her this question.
The reason for this fashion mystery
“It has happened to all of us that we have gone to buy pants of the same model, of the same size, but in a different color and when you go to try them on you realize that depending on the color, some are bigger than others,” he points out. Martha. As the young woman explains, the answer is “simple”, this is due to the “dyes” with which they dye the clothes.
“It will surprise many of you, but in the massive textile industry, clothes are not made in colors.” As highlighted, the garments are manufactured in a “off white or gray” color and then they proceed to give it a color bath to achieve the desired tone. “They make about 200 white pants in size 38 and dye 50 red, 50 blue, 50 green and 50 yellow,” he lists as an example.
The reason why they use this method, instead of using the same fabric to make them, is to “reduce costs, since it is much cheaper.” This process is usually used “on jeans, T-shirts, dresses or other cotton garments.” Never in synthetic garments since they do not take color
But why does this happen when dyeing it? The answer lies in quality: “The dyes of the 'fast fashion' industry are superchemical, they are not exactly natural, which is why they cause the garments to shrink, shrink and even, on some occasions, expand,” says the 'tiktoker. '.
