Her accident occurred just before 5.00 pm, when the force of the impact proved lethal.
Sitting in the passenger seat, she was in the car with her family and boyfriend. Eleonora Certelli's mother, brother and boyfriend were transferred by air ambulance, at a hospital, in serious condition. The chances of survival are uncertain, but the team of doctors will try to avoid a bitter epilogue. The driver of the truck, however, is out of danger, capable of getting away without sustaining injuries, but tested from a psychological point of view, in shock due to the incident.
To allow the emergency services to intervene and the air ambulance to land, the A1 motorway was closed. Then, the police forces took to the field to carry out the necessary investigations. Both drivers involved were subjected to tests to ascertain any presence of alcohol or drugs, which could distort their driving skills. If evidence were collected to support the thesis, the crime of vehicular homicide could be committed.
