The first episode of “Ms Marvel” came to Disney+ streaming on June 8 and was the debut of the 19-year-old actress Iman Vellani in an audiovisual project.
The Canadian interpreter, of Pakistani Muslim parents, gives life to Kamala Khan/ Ms. Marvela teenage fan of Captain Marvel.
Although the 6-episode series is Vellani’s first experience as an actress, her short film projects directed by her can be found on the Vimeo page.

Who is Iman Vellani?
The young woman, whose only previous experience related to acting has been directing short films, revealed during an interview with Variety that she is proud to have been chosen as the first Muslim heroine of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“The fact that the show is being made and that they include this character in the MCU is (important)… I really don’t have to talk about being a Muslim and being a Pakistani, it all comes organically on the show. I believe that people who see a person like me involved in a project as big as this are inspired enough“Vellani said.
His leading role in “Ms. Marvel” is her debut in a fictional film or television. However, she had already been selected as part of the Tiff Next Wave Committee of the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, in which young people between the ages of 15 and 18 share their passion for cinema.

During an interview, the actress revealed that before landing the role of Kamala, she already described herself as a fan of Marvel.
“I only auditioned because I’m obsessed with Ms Marvel and the comics (…) I have so much love for this character and for the Marvel universe, that’s what drove me. It was my first audition and I really just wanted to meet people at Marvel. I think they saw how much I love this world and gave me the opportunity and the confidence to bring Kamala to life,” she told People magazine.
