On WhatsApp, the time has come for instant emoji reactions. So far, the function is still in a test phase. But soon all users will be able to enjoy it.
Munich – Fast and uncomplicated – that’s how we imagine the best way to get in touch. After all, hardly anyone has time for lengthy explanations or answers these days. WhatsApp can no longer ignore this either. That’s why the globally popular messenger service is now relying on immediate reactions via emoji.
According to information from WABetaInfo users can reply to messages in chats with six different symbols without having to send a message themselves. A blessing for everyone who wants or needs to be available almost around the clock. And a tool that has long since proven itself on Twitter or Instagram.
WhatsApp update: Six different emojis available as a quick reaction
Possible reactions are a thumbs up – i.e. the popular like sign -, a heart, a tearful smiley, a surprised smiley, a tearful smiley and folded hands as a sign of thanks. The selection bar is displayed if you press and hold the selected message. The corresponding emoji can be activated with a click and is then displayed at the bottom right under the message.
There should be no limit to the number of reactions to a post. If a four-digit number is reached, however, only “999+” is displayed.
WhatsApp and emojis: New function initially only released for certain Android users
Initially, however, only very few WhatsApp friends will be able to enjoy this new function. The emoji responses were only activated for a small selection of users of the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.22.8.3 update as a test. But potentially every user can see the new reactions.
WABetaInfo assumes that the official and nationwide publication will not be long in coming. WhatsApp Beta for iOS and WhatsApp Desktop Beta users can also enjoy it. Loud chip there are usually “a few weeks” between the various steps. The GQ Magazine writes that the goal of the makers is “to play the reactions function everywhere at the same time”. (mg)
WhatsApp will also soon delight Android users with the eraser. Meanwhile, WhatsApp is apparently planning one serious restriction, as a consumer portal informs. Embarrassing answers could be inevitable with a new function.
