WhatsApp introduces a new preview feature for pinned messages in the Android beta, available to some testers.
WhatsApp is releasing a new update through the Google Play Beta program, bringing the version to 2.24.11.12. Among the new features introduced, WhatsApp has included a preview function for pinned messages.
All the info on the new beta
It has been known for some time that WhatsApp was working on a preview feature for pinned messages. This feature has now been designed to improve user accessibility and interaction within chats, offering a quick and immediate view of the established contents. Whether it’s a photo, video or other media file, users can quickly identify the content without having to open the pinned message.
The pinned message thumbnail, displayed directly at the top of the screen, allows users to see the content without having to navigate to the pinned message. This can significantly improve navigation and efficiency within conversations. Before this feature, users had to manually select the pinned message to see its contents. Now, the thumbnail offers an at-a-glance view of the content right from the home screen, making accessing pinned messages much easier and faster.
It will not be available to everyone
The pinned message preview feature is available to some beta testers who install the latest updates WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and will be rolled out to more and more users in the coming days. In this way, users who can try the new function will be able to provide feedback, allowing the company to further optimize the experience.
But unfortunately not all beta testers will be able to test the feature: the company has in fact explained that this function will only be available for some, and will be distributed to more users in the coming days. Regardless, this beta feature will only be testable on Android for now, but if it is confirmed as a definitive feature, it will also be imported onto iOS devices.
