Sleep expert James Wilson warns against making the mistake of putting pajamas in the fridge or freezer, noting that this won’t help calm anyone, and instead, it will cause their bodies to overheat, according to the British newspaper, “Daily Express”.
“When the hot weather comes, there are some tips given that may look like they’ll work when in reality they don’t. For example, putting pajamas in the fridge or freezer or wearing wet socks,” Wilson said.
“These two methods will add more moisture to your sleep environment and will heat up the humidity during the night,” Wilson said.
“This moisture will heat up and likely wake you up when you’re out of your sleep cycle,” he added.
Wilson pointed out one useful way to improve sleep on hot nights.
He says, “Take a shower in lukewarm water. This helps raise your body temperature slightly, which then causes your core temperature to drop. The drop in core temperature is an important part of your body’s sleep process and this approach basically tricks your body into thinking it’s colder than it is.” on him”.
He explained that the reason for recommending lukewarm water is that feeling the icy cold from the ice water “will shock your body, make it feel more energetic and increase the likelihood of prolonging the sleep process.”
