Moore, the Liverpool defender, scored the hat-trick during unsuccessful attempts to distract with her right foot, head and left foot, so the ball landed inside New Zealand’s net in the 5, 6 and 36 minutes.
The 25-year-old left the field 4 minutes before the end of the first half, and Rebecca Scott participated in her place.
“Every player plays, no matter their level, she plays great matches and other tough matches, and Moore has had a tough day,” New Zealand coach Yitka Klimkova said.
She added, “Of course she is sad and frustrated, but she is a wonderful personality and a player connected to the team. We all support her at this difficult time in her career.”
America was also recorded by Ashley Hatch and Mallory Pew.
America will play Iceland in the last round of the tournament, Wednesday, and they will need to win to retain the title, while a draw will be enough for Iceland to win the title for the first time.
