The team Press continues to broaden its horizons and in 2022 thanks to the collaboration with Iron Lynx it will also land in the Endurance World Championship by participating in the LMP2 class fielding an Oreca 05. The Venetian battleship, with a great tradition in the preparatory open-wheel championships, has announced the three pilots who they will take turns at the wheel of the car that will also be the protagonist at the next 24 Hours of Le Mans. The trio is exceptional and is made up of Robert Kubica, Louis Deletraz and the Italian Lorenzo Colombo, who emerged in F3 in 2021 at the wheel of a Dallara prepared by Campos Racing (a victory at Spa for the 2000 class). Kubica and Deletraz are back from the terrible insult of the 2021 edition, when they lost the conquest of the 24 Hours of Le Mans due to a technical knockout occurred on the last lap. Below are their statements and those of team principal René Rosin.
Robert Kubica: “I am happy to join the Prema ORLEN team. I have already raced with them in the 2003 Formula 3 Euro Series. I have known the Rosin family and some key people since then, and even though it’s been a long time, we all know that the team is extremely competitive. It is a new challenge for the team and also for me, as last year I only raced in three FIA WEC events, Le Mans and the two Bahrain events. I am happy to work with Louis, who I have known from last year in ELMS and Le Mans, and Lorenzo. I am looking forward to taking on this challenge which will require a lot of work and dedication. We hope to be able to start the season without major problems. We have a lot to work on, but Prema’s pedigree in single-seaters is indisputable and I’m sure it will be the same in endurance races too ”.
Lorenzo Colombo: “I am happy to participate in the Endurance World Championship with a top-level team. I know I will have to learn a lot, but I have great faith in the team and in my crewmates. I can not wait to start”.
Louis Deletraz: “The team needs no introduction, I have raced against them all my career in single-seaters and they have always been at the top. It is clear that there will be a lot for everyone to learn, but we have great ambitions and a fantastic crew. I am happy to continue racing with Robert after the title won in the ELMS in 2021 ”.
René Rosin: “Starting a new adventure with so much potential happens often. I am really happy to have Robert Kubica and Louis Deletraz in the cockpit, probably one of the strongest pairs of riders in the Endurance scene. I am sure that Lorenzo Colombo will also learn quickly, we have raced against him for many years in single-seaters and he has always proved to be a difficult opponent to beat ”.
The WEC championship will officially begin on March 18th with the 1000 Miglia di Sebring, anticipated by the prologue on the same track on March 12th and 13th. There 24 hours of Le Mansinstead, it will take place on the weekend of 11-12 June.
