While discussing a possible entry of Porsche and Audi in Formula 1 – with the ‘simple’ role of engineers or perhaps with its own team – starting from the 2026 season, the Weissach house is for the moment concentrated in much more concrete plans concerning the fascinating world of racing Endurance. The 2022 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the most important race in the WEC calendar – is still five months away, but the thoughts of many are even already projected to 2023, when the starting fleet, in the new Hyeprcar category, will be enriched by the highest nobility of world motoring. In fact, according to the confirmations received in recent months, calibers such as Toyota, Peugeot, Ferrari, Audi and Porsche will compete on the Sarthe circuit.
The works of the German brand, which presents itself to this new adventure accompanied by the Penske team, proceed quickly. This was made known by the Porsche team itself, publishing a video lasting a few seconds on its social channels but sufficient to make motorsport fans mouth water and make direct opponents stand up. The German house in fact showed the first ‘cries’ of the new LMDh prototype who will compete for absolute success in the WEC and IMSA championships next year. The car has completed the first installation laps on the team’s test track. At the wheel was driver Fred Mako, who was entrusted with the task of ‘scraping’ the car. The livery is still the ‘camouflage’ one used to prevent opponents from seeing the exact lines of the new racing car. However, these images are unlikely to have gone unnoticed.
