Weather | The heat will end next week, showers and unstable weather are expected in the capital region

The weather will cool down all over Finland next week. Rain showers and unstable weather are expected in the capital region.

In the capital region let’s celebrate the last hot days for now. Next week, the heat will change to cool weather and rain showers, says the meteorologist on duty at the Finnish Meteorological Institute Eveliina Tuovinen.

Monday is so far the last day when temperatures rise to freezing temperatures in Uusimaa. On Tuesday, the forecast promises more than 20 more degrees, but from Wednesday the temperatures will remain around 18–20 degrees.

“It seems that we will get relief from the heat and hopefully a little rain, so that nature will also get moisture”, Tuovinen estimates.

You can expect small showers from Tuesday onwards, according to Tuovinen, there will be more showers on Thursday. There may also be thunder in connection with the rain showers, but no major storms are expected.

New according to Tuovinen, there is no heat pipe in sight. Now the heat has continued in the capital region for ten days.

“It would be extraordinary if there was such a wave here. Now more and more we are returning to normal.”

In recent weeks, high pressure has prevailed in Finland, which has caused hot and humid air to flow into the country. Now the high pressure is giving way, and cooler air is flowing in instead.

According to Tuovinen, the end result is cooler weather than usual at this time of year.

The heat will end next week also in other parts of Finland. Tuovinen predicts that the weather will still be hot in many places on Monday, but from Tuesday the weather will cool down. Rain showers are also expected in other parts of Finland.
