Minister defended that the Brazilian government reduce taxes to improve the competitiveness of Brazilian companies
The Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, said this Friday (26.Aug.2022) that he does not want the “Chinese” entering Brazil to break the national industry. According to Guedes, the economic team’s plan is to eliminate the IPI (Tax on Industrialized Products) to improve the business environment and improve the competitiveness of the local industry.
“The Brazilian business community has a ball of iron on its right leg, which are very high interest rates, a ball of iron on its left leg, which are very high taxes, you put a piano on its back, which are labor charges, and say: ‘run and the Chinese will get you’”, said.
“We don’t want the ‘Chinese’ entering here breaking our factories, our industries, under any circumstances. What we want is something moderate. We lowered the IPI by 35%, we will end the IPI.”
Guedes spoke on the subject in event gives Cotrijal Agricultural and Industrial Cooperative.
