Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has expressed his high hopes that Eden Terzic will achieve good results with the team, after he returned to the position of coach.
Terzic coached Dortmund between December 2020 and May 2021, and led the team to win the German Cup and is loved by the fans.
Terzic took over as sporting director when Marco Rose took over the team, but Dortmund separated from Rosen and reinstated Terzic as coach.
Watzke said today, Sunday, that Terzec is one of the beloved people in the Ruhr region, and that he knows the essence of the Borussia Dortmund team.
“We feel comfortable with him, but he still has to win matches,” he added.
Watzke added that there is a need for patience as the team will have a new look after the departure of players such as Erling Haaland and Axel Witsel, and the addition of others such as German players Niklas Schule, Niko Schlutterbeck and Karim Ademi.
“We know very well that we are in the process of changing many things, in order to crystallize some new things within the team,” he stressed.
And he added, “Our goals are to qualify for the Champions League, where the team is enough to occupy the fourth place in the league to qualify, but we must give such a team some time, it takes some time when 6 or 7 new players join.”
Watzke described the decision to separate from Rose as true, after he spent only one year during which Dortmund was unable to compete with Bayern Munich for the German Bundesliga title, “Bundesliga,” and the team bid farewell to the German Cup early and also European championships.
