Salaries will continue to rise in Spain by an average of 3.2% next year, continuing the upward trend experienced in recent years, as highlighted in the ‘2025 Remuneration Study’ published by Michael Page brand belonging to PageGroup.
In this sense, the average salary increase in all areas between 2022 and 2023 was 5%, last year a smaller increase was observed, with 3.5% and, during 2024 this figure has remained almost static as it positions by 3.2%.
Although a tighter increase is observed each year, the Spanish labor market shows that it continues to evolve and that salaries continue to increase, although at a decelerated rate.
The general director of PageGroup Spain and Portugal, Jaime Asnaihas stated that it has seen an increase in remuneration in key areas, and this trend is expected to continue, although moderate.
“It is a clear sign that loyalty and attraction of talent continues to be a strategic priority for companies seeking to adapt to an increasingly competitive labor market,” he added. Asnai.
In a context in which hiring has stabilized, during the last year the volume of selection processes for the positions managed by the firm has increased in different areas, among which stand out marketingwith an increase of 11%; real estate and constructionwith 10%; and Insurancewith 5%.
Michael Page highlights that the Spanish labor market continues to go through a phase “of change and instability”, facing problems similar to those of the previous year, summarized in the lack of talent and specialized profiles in the fields with the most demand.
This situation is leading companies to increase salaries, either to attract highly valued profiles or to avoid the drain of talent on their teams. This is why, in the selection processes managed by PageGroup, a significant salary increase has been observed, especially in finance (+13%), human resources (+9%) and marketing (+6%).
The areas with the greatest potential in 2025
During this year there will be areas that will stand out for their potential in the Spanish labor market. The sector of energy stands out as the one with the greatest potential, given that the transition towards renewable energy and sustainability objectives are driving a growing demand for professionals in this area, especially in clean energy and energy efficiency.
The area industrial It is positioned as another of the sectors that may have the greatest relevance in the coming year, since reindustrialization and investment in technological innovation are generating strong growth and the need for technical and engineering profiles.
For its part, the sector real estate and construction It can also be a prominent area, because it is experiencing a constant demand for the recovery of residential and commercial projects, as well as a renewed interest in sustainable construction.
Finally, Spain occupies an “exceptional” position and is positioned as one of the “best-rated destinations worldwide” in terms of tourism and, accompanied by an increase in investments to be able to cover this growth, it will cause hiring in this area to increase, which is why tourism also stands out for its potential.
