The first deliveries of Volkswagen ID. Buzz have yet to be made, but the commercial success of the German electric minivan is already beyond question as it is already in Europe sold-out. In fact, more than 10,000 orders that the German giant has received for the battery-powered minivan: of these, the majority come from Norwaythe electricity market par excellence in the Old Continent, which recorded 3,400 bookings, followed by the home market, Germany, with 2,500 orders and the Netherlands and Belgium with 2,100 bookings.
Recall that the production of the new ID. Buzz began at the Volkswagen plant in Hanover last May, although the first examples of the German electric minivan destined for Europe are not expected to be delivered until October. The Old Continent will still be the first to receive Volkswagen’s new battery-powered model: the UK, with right-hand drive units, will follow next year, while the US market will have to wait until 2024. Lars Krause, head of sales of VW Commercial Vehicle, addressed employees of the Hanover plant with an email, the words of which were reported by the German weekly AutomobilWoche: “10,000 orders, without the minivan actually reaching our dealerships, and not even a customer who has already driven it. It is simply impressive. I am very happy that the ID. Buzz is already selling so well. We are still in the introduction phase, before the market launch. The presales have not yet started in France and the UK ”.
Given the trend in bookings for the model, Volkswagen plans to increase gradually production over the months: this year it will build 15,000 units of its electric minivan, will rise to 60,000 units in 2023 and 130,000 vehicles later in the model’s life cycle. And that means only one thing: the situation of sold-out of the new ID. Buzz won’t last long, because as production reaches higher levels more and more customers will be able to order it.
