Next week, a powerful anticyclone will operate in the European part of Russia, in connection with which there will be a significant difference in temperatures in the south and north in the region. This was announced on Friday, March 18, by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia Roman Vilfand.
“An unusual situation: in the south of the European part of Russia, the temperature will be lower than in the north. In the northern half, the temperature is predicted to be at least 8-4 degrees below zero in the coming days, and in the Rostov region – 15-12 degrees below zero, in the south of the Volga Federal District and the Urals – 13-18 degrees below zero. Such a spatial inversion is obtained due to the action of a powerful anticyclone, ”the agency quoted the meteorologist as saying. TASS.
Vilfand added that this situation will be observed until the middle of next week.
Noticeable negative anomalies are expected in the Chelyabinsk region and the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District: there the temperature will be 7-10 degrees below the norm in the coming days. In the Arkhangelsk, Murmansk regions and Karelia, the temperature will be 10-12 degrees above the norm, he specified.
On March 15, Roman Vilfand said that in the coming days in Central Russia, the Volga region, the Urals and Western Siberia, abnormal frosts will set in, which will be caused by a powerful anticyclone. He noted that the anomaly of seven to ten degrees is a dangerous weather phenomenon.
A day earlier, Vilfand noted that by March 20, abnormally high atmospheric pressure is expected in the center and south of the central and European parts of Russia. According to the specialist, the pressure will increase daily, this is typical for the center and south of European Russia.
