Viewers moved by Dutch version of Hallelujah at Matthijs continues

Viewers say on Twitter that they are moved by the performance of singer Jan Rot on Saturday evening in the television program Matthijs continues. Rot brought a Dutch translation of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen. ‘Tears in my eyes.’

The 63-year-old singer has an incurable form of colon cancer. He previously informed this site that he expects to celebrate his last birthday in December in the Nieuwe Luxor Theater in Rotterdam. “I’m going to be 64 and not older. That’s sad, but also special,” said the singer. Rot says performing is still the best thing there is. “Of course I sometimes think: why me? But you can’t sit at home on the couch and cry all day. As long as it goes, I’m living my life the way it was and that means doing things I enjoy.”

The documentary will go on at IDFA next month Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, a Journey, a Song premiere. The documentary tells the history of Leonard Cohen’s biggest hit.

Earlier in the broadcast of Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, Barry Hay and JB Meijers performed a preview of their concert on November 5 in the Ziggo Dome, where they paid a musical tribute to their rock heroes inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead.

The final broadcast of Matthijs continues was good for a fifth place in the top 25 of most watched programs with more than 1 million viewers. Chantal’s Pajama Party According to Stichting KijkOnderzoek (SKO), RTL 4 attracted on average just as many viewers. The new season of Mindf*ck attracted more than 1.4 million viewers on Saturday evening. The NPO 1 program with illusionist Victor Mids was the second best viewed program of the day. Only the NOS Journaal of 8 p.m. was viewed better with 1.7 million viewers.
