This Wednesday, December 7, has been a day with many political events in Peru. Initially, the president Pedro Castillo decreed to temporarily dissolve Congress and establish a national emergency government, which unleashed a few hours of institutional crisis in the neighboring country.
Hours later, Congress approved his dismissal as President in a motion that was scheduled for 5 pm this Wednesday, but it had to be brought forward after Castillo decreed the dissolution of Parliament in the morning.

For the removal of the president to proceed, the vote in favor of at least 87 of the 130 parliamentarians was required. Finally, the vote ended with 101 votes in favor.six votes against and 10 abstentions.
Castillo, for his part, left the Government Palace and went to the prefectural headquarters, on Avenida España, in Lima, where he was finally arrested.

After the vote, Congress called a new session for this Wednesday at 3 in the afternoon to swear in the vice president Dina Boluarte, who will take office as the new president of Peru.
