The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, was attacked and shaken this Saturday, apparently without suffering major damage, by a woman who managed to circumvent security measures and reached her during a visit she made to the southern Andean region of Ayacucho, where died ten people during the anti-government protests of late 2022 and early 2023.

Boluarte had participated in the laying of the first stone of the paving of a road in three districts of Ayacucho, when the woman managed to pass under a truck parked in the place where the president was with his entourage.
Images broadcast by Canal N television showed that, despite the large number of security agents and members of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), The woman reached the president, whom she shook for a few seconds, until security guards intervened, apparently arresting the attacker.
The media stated that the woman is a relative of one of the people who died in Ayacucho during the anti-government demonstrations that broke out in the country after Pedro Castillo was removed from the Presidency by Congress, following his failed self-coup on December 7. December 2022.

The images released showed that in the midst of the tumult that formed, some people intervened, including the regional governor of Ayacucho, Wilfredo Oscorima, while PNP agents arrested the woman.
Boluarte returned to Ayacucho this Saturday for the first time since the anti-government demonstrations, although his presence in that town was rejected by groups of family members and people who protested the deaths that occurred in their town.

During one of her speeches, on the occasion of the beginning of drinking water and sewage works, the head of state pointed out that ideologies that are spread “in a minority way” do not feed poverty, but rather “they only generate misery, delay, sorrow and pain.”
“That is why we are here, to lay the first stone in concrete works that can change the face of our compatriots, with joy, so that the brothers of Ayacucho can have life and health,” she said while being applauded by another large group of citizens who He also continued his visit.
The president added that Ayacucho has been forgotten for decades by the authorities and highlighted that “a female president had to come to treat all Peruvians as her children.”
“This Andean woman, daughter of men and women farmers like you, knows perfectly what poverty is like, what hunger is like, what cold is like,” she emphasized. The president added that, for this reason, “Ayacucho is a priority” for her Government and “history must be rewritten with development, progress and well-being.”
