In what was described as a miracle on social media, two children were rescued, the first remaining under the rubble for 122 hours and the second for 128 hours.
And in the latest developments about the earthquake that struck Turkey:
- The Turkish Disaster Management Department revealed, on Saturday, that the country is facing a disaster far beyond what was expected, while rescue teams are racing against time on the fifth day after the disaster, as the chances of finding survivors diminish, but hope remains.
- She added: We are analyzing two earthquakes that occurred on February 6, the duration of the first earthquake was 65 seconds, and this time had a devastating effect, and the second was of 45 seconds, and the area shook severely for about two minutes.
- She continued: More than two thousand aftershocks have occurred so far and are continuing, indicating that there is no flow of lava or volcanic ash or leakage of oil or gas in the earthquake zones.
- It added that nearly 93,000 earthquake victims in southern Turkey had been evacuated and more than 166,000 individuals had participated in rescue and relief efforts.
- She said that 1,891 aftershocks have occurred since the first quake hit the country early Monday morning.
