The Ministry of Defense said in a tweet on its official account on Twitter: “The destruction of the Russian SAM system near the village of Ivankiv, in the Kyiv region.”
She indicated that this destruction process was carried out using a “Bayraktar” unmanned aerial vehicle.
The “SAM” is a medium-range, self-propelled surface-to-air missile system, developed by the Soviet Union with the purpose of repelling “Cruise” missiles, smart bombs and aircraft.
The company, “Maxar Technologies”, said on Tuesday that satellite images taken on Monday showed a Russian military convoy north of Kyiv, extending for a distance of 64 km.
The company indicated that additional deployments of ground forces and ground attack helicopter units were also seen in southern Belarus, less than 32 km from the northern Ukrainian border, Reuters reported.
On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called, on Tuesday, for the imposition of a ban on Russia in “all ports and airports in the world.”
In a video message posted on Facebook, Zelensky said that “a country like this should be denied entry to all ports, canals and airports in the world.”
He also called on the international community to “consider closing its entire airspace to Russian missiles, planes and helicopters,” according to “AFP”.
The Ukrainian president stressed that “this evil, armed with missiles, bombs and cannons, must be stopped immediately and must be destroyed economically in order for humanity to show that it is capable of defending itself.”
Zelensky condemned the bombing by Russian forces on Ukrainian cities, on Monday, at a time when the Russian and Ukrainian negotiating delegations were meeting in Belarus for the first time since the start of Russian military operations on Thursday.
The Ukrainian president advised Russia not to “waste its time”, because the bombing of Ukrainian cities would not make it acquiesce in the conditions it set for a truce.
