With more heart than football, AC Milan scored the 1-2 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza against Inter Milan thanks to a goal in the 89th minute by Matteo Gabbia who headed a free kick into the corner of the goal defended by Yann Sommer, who threw himself at full speed but was unable to stop the Italian defender’s good header.
This was the first goal of the season for Gabbia, who has been a lifelong Rossoneri player, having gone on loan to Villarreal last year but returning and having shown that the love for the colours does exist. The player had not scored since May 5 this year when Milan drew 3-3 with Genoa in Serie A.
This goal and the final result of 1-2 are pure gold for the team led by Paolo Fonseca, who have had a somewhat irregular start to the season with a record of two wins, two draws and one defeat until this fifth round of Italian football. Next week Milan will host Lecce in search of continuing to climb the standings.
