For just over 10 years in the past, it has become known that the most fruitful type of entertainment is video games, easily beating others such as music and the cinema. And now, this information has been confirmed once again, at least by the UK, which reports percentage of revenue.
The Digital Entertainment and Retail Association (ERA) mentions that gaming accounted for 42.1% of total entertainment revenue in 2022. To this is added that the also grew by 2.3% compared to 2021reaching a total of £4.664 billion, making the gaming business bigger than ever.
All money raised includes copies of physical and digital video games, consoles, additional content, in-app purchases, mobile games, as well as online subscriptions. For its part, video entertainment includes physical and digital sales, streaming subscriptions, and it is not so clear if ticket sales also enter.
For its part, music includes physical sales of CDs and vinyl, as well as subscriptions to services such as Spotify Y Manzana Music, sales grew by 3%, at £1,986 million, it is a market that is in third place. There is also no talk of whether tickets for artist shows are present, or if they are off-count earnings.
It is worth mentioning that the video game market is mostly on its way to becoming digital only, since 10% of sales were in digital format. Something that can worry people who focus on collecting.

Editor’s note: Video games have been the training medium that generates the most money for quite some time, so seeing him one more year in this position is no longer surprising. Surely he will be present for many more years on this podium.
