If you loved both Venom movie made by Sony in recent years (and we guess that’s a big if), you’ll be sad to find out that the next film – officially called Venom The Last Dance – will be the last in the series. Of course, the name helped us assume it, but now we have official confirmation from Sony.
“The third and final Venom is going to be huge“Sony Motion Picture Group president Tom Rothman said of the future of Sony’s Spider-Man universe in an interview with Deadline.
These words give hope that the third Venom film will try to raise the bar compared to the previous ones, but it certainly confirms that it will be the last film (for the moment, at least) dedicated to the anti-hero.
Rothman’s full statement
The comment by Rothman on Venom The Last Dance came at the end of a broader comment related to Sony’s films, also born in response to a question about how Sony is approaching the making of The Legend of Zelda film.
Rothman explained that the Zelda film will maintain a sense of ‘freshness’ explaining that “the film was developed and made in close collaboration with Shigeru Miyamoto. He is a true genius in that world, and it is precisely his strong vision that motivate the film. He created it and knows it inside out. You only have to look at the results of Super Mario to realize this. The most important point of my speech is that I think a healthy release list in the future will not be determined by a single guy of product will have to have a balance of great IPs and solid sequels.”
