We are in full use and throw away time. We discard obsolete electronic devices, we throw away our out-of-fashion clothes, we throw away the food we forgot for a week in the refrigerator, we throw away, we throw away.
And this is totally incomprehensible, in that desire to use and throw awaywe are destroying the planet and that is definitely serious even if we are not recognizing it.
But there is another deplorable custom of use and throw awayI mean the one that occurs in the electoral politics environment.
In times of electionsall the candidates for elected officethey love voters, they greet us, they listen to us, they look us in the eyes and they are there for us.
This behavior survives until the moment of votingFrom there, many of the elected officials undergo a deplorable metamorphosisthey turn distantsome even superb, it seems that for them we cease to exist. They used us for their purposes and discarded us.
Of course, in this framework there are, fortunately for us and for the honor of some politicians, many exceptions.
Use it and throw it away, a practice that only necessity can blur, hopefully when that moment arrives it will not be too late, too late to recover our planet, nor too late to vindicate politics.
The ironic and hopeful thing, at the same time, about all this is that the solution lies in us, in those of us who complain, in those of us who resign ourselves, in those of us who submissively accept this situation.
I continue to dream of a dignified and united Mexico, a Mexico whose dignity drives us to reject every person who once asked us for support to get a job in the public service and then discarded us. I dream of a united Mexico, with united Mexicans who think first of their family and their country and then of the people who implore our vote.
With a Mexico populated by Mexicans who are responsible and aware of the sublime mission of preserving the ecology of this beautiful country that life has given us.
I dream that I fight to materialize, although within my limitations, I must recognize that the strategies used may not be appropriate, but I hope that someone else joins this, which I will never consider a utopia and I will always hope that the effort will yield results.
For a dignified and united Mexico, let’s make a pact to eliminate this disastrous practice of use and throw away.
Thank you so much.
