In football, anything can happen. Lovers of the beautiful game know that, beyond tactics and strategies, the idea that the late Argentine journalist Dante Panzeri promulgated for years reigns in football: the dynamics of the unthinkable.
To this concept that says the predominance of improvisation in sport, one of its greatest charms, must be added the fervent passion of the fans. Without the passion of its people, football would not be the phenomenon that it is.
Precisely because of that emotional impulse that surrounds the game, incredible things happen. Things like what happened a few days ago at the Presidente Perón Stadium, the popular ‘Cilindro’, in Avellaneda, in Argentina. Broadly speaking, a tribute, to a certain extent, failed.
A passionate and ‘frustrated’ tribute
Everything happened last Wednesday in the game between Racing and Argentinos Juniors, of Argentine soccer. The game was going on normally when Vicky Herbekian, a Racing fan, felt a wave of dust fall on top of her. From there, the beginning of an unusual history of South American football.
“Yesterday we were in stall B, low, we arrived early and everything was normal. At the time of the team’s departure, when the fans began to sing from the upper tray, something like sand began to fall on us, but gray in color. Pwe thought that with the jumps some cement had come off or it was some dirt that fell from the balcony”, reported the fan at first through their social networks.
“We covered ourselves with what we had and the game started. Everything normal again until Racing scored the first goal and the gray sand again. Again we thought that with the celebration and the jumps something had come off the field. Already at that moment we began to notify the security that something was falling on us from above, ”Herbekian explained in his Instagram stories.
“Then no more sand fell, but towards the end of the first half there were bits of cardboard. At the break, while we were waiting for the game to start, we saw the cardboard I uploaded the photo of and we understood everything. It was a mix of impression at first and then something funny. When we showed the rest what we had found they were impressed. In the second half, nothing fell, ”explained the woman.
After his posts went viral, a video of the moment broke into networks. The record shows how a man spreads the ashes of who, according to Argentine media, was a recently deceased Argentine fan. The idea was for them to get to the field. However, they fell on the rostrum.
The match ended with a 3-0 victory for Racing. The memory of the moment will be eternal.
