The Santander City Council offers, one more year, a hundred transportation scholarships fore university students can move around the city for free and on any of the municipal urban transport service (TUS) lines.
This was announced this Sunday in a press release by the Councilor for Sustainable Mobility, Agustín Navarro, who explained that these scholarships are included in two collaboration agreements with the Universities of Cantabria (UC) and the European University of the Atlantic (UNEATLANTICO). , ratified this week at the Local Government Board.
As detailed, The objective of both agreements is to promote sustainable travel among students in the municipality.
The agreement stipulates that both universities select the beneficiary students, based on economic and academic criteria whose accreditation corresponds to the status of scholarship holders from the Ministry of Education.

The City Council, through the TUS, is responsible for each course making the personalized chip cards that are delivered to university students.
The mayor has stressed the need to promote “sustainable” travel, especially among younger residents, and has assured that to this end, the City Council makes an “important” effort each year to maintain this aid.
