The FBI found a new classified document in the search carried out this Friday at the residence of former US Vice President Mike Pence in Indiana (USA), his adviser, Devin O’Malley, told the press.

The record, according to a statement by O’Malley published by the newspaper The Washington Postlasted five hours and in it they withdrew a document identified as classified and “six more pages” that were not marked as such.

In January, a Pence aide found dozens of documents marked classified at his Indiana home after the former Republican vice president asked him to conduct a search.
The search this Friday, according to O’Malley, occurred precisely after the discovery of those first documents “that had been inadvertently transferred” to that address.

The counselor stressed in his note that after this finding, both Pence and his legal advisers have “fully cooperated” with the relevant authorities. The search this Friday, along these lines, had been agreed upon.
Pence, who stood by former President Donald Trump for most of his Presidency (2017-2021), distanced himself from him after the assault on the Capitol in January 2021 and after receiving pressure from the president to annul the victory of the Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Media outlets revealed Thursday that the Justice Department subpoenaed Pence as part of special counsel Robert Hur’s investigation into Trump’s efforts to remain in power after the 2020 election that led to that attack on the Capitol

Both Biden and Trump are under investigation for possession of classified documents.
Biden’s case was uncovered in January and the papers found date back to the time when he was vice president of Barack Obama (2009-2017) and when he was a senator (1973-2009).
His different classified documents were found by his own lawyers and turned over to the authorities, unlike what happened in August at Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago (Florida), where the intervention of the Department of Justice was necessary to recover the papers.
