In a tweet on its Twitter account, the Ukrainian Navy said, “The ship Vasily Bekh was used to transport ammunition, weapons and personnel to Snake Island,” which is vital to protecting sea lanes outside Odessa’s main port.
The Ukrainian Navy did not mention the extent of the damage to the Russian ship as a result of the strike, but concluded the tweet with the words: “Moskva will never be alone,” referring to the Russian ship “Moskva” that was sunk by the Ukrainian Navy last April.
The Moskva was the flagship of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which was used to capture Serpent Island.
Snake Island, located about 35 kilometers from the coast, made an impressive appearance early in the war, when Ukrainian border guards stationed there defied Russian orders to surrender.
The Ukrainian Navy said, on Friday, that “after the sinking of the main ship Moskva, the Russians began installing an anti-aircraft missile system called TOR on the decks of their ships,” adding that this “is not enough to prevent the Ukrainian naval forces from disarming the Russian occupiers,” according to the newspaper. “Washington Post”.
There was no response from the Russian authorities regarding the Ukrainian declaration.
