The General Staff stated in its daily statement that “according to the available information, the Russians have already taken 1,000 volunteers from representatives of the so-called Bashar al-Assad’s army and Hezbollah.”
The commission claimed that “the main condition for foreign fighters is fighting experience in the city.”
“According to the information available, the aforementioned activists do not aim to participate in the fighting in Ukraine, but to use commercial flights as an opportunity to enter European countries,” she added.
Russia had said earlier that it had received thousands of requests from volunteers in Syria in order to join the Russian military campaign in Ukraine.
Both Syria and Hezbollah declared their support for the Russian war in Ukraine.
However, it was not possible to verify from an independent source the information about the involvement of Hezbollah elements in the war taking place there.
