In a video posted on Facebook, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at least 137 Ukrainians were killed and 316 wounded on the first day of the Russian invasion of the country.
In the speech, Zelensky vented and said that the Ukrainians are “alone” in the defense of the former Soviet republic. “I asked all the state partners if they are with us. They are with us, but they are not ready for us to enter into an alliance with them,” he said.
“I am grateful to each state that helps us concretely, not just with words. But there is a second point: we are alone in defending our state. Who’s ready to fight us? Honestly, I don’t see anyone,” said Zelensky, who warned that groups of Russian “saboteurs” are already in Kiev.
