Selenskij: Trump only talked about one nuclear power plant, not about everyone
Selenskij the Financial Times: Whether the largest nuclear power plant in Europe can play a role in future security agreements depends on “whether we can get it back and put it back into operation”. With Washington he had explored whether the USA couldn’t get Saporischeschja back from the Russians.
In a statement by US Foreign Minister Marco Rubio and the national security advisor Mike Waltz, it was justified for the advance of Trump: it would be the best protection for these systems and the Ukrainian energy infrastructure as a whole if the power plants were owned by the USA. Among other things, Trump spoke to Selenskij that “the United States could be very helpful when operating these systems with their specialist knowledge in the areas of electricity and energy supply”.
Ukraine has four nuclear power plants, Kyiv is currently in control of three of them. The Saporischschja nuclear power plant had conquered Russia in 2022 and keeps it occupied today. The systems are of great importance for the supply of the country with electricity because many coal -fired power plants are damaged as a result of Russian attacks.
