Ukrainian war, Boris Johnson’s gaffe
Western sanctions aim at “to bring down the Putin regime”. According to reports from the spokesman for Boris Johnson, the sentence was attributed to the British premier, but then the denial came from Downing Street. The gaffe, dangerous and sensational, would have resulted from a possible slip. “We are not looking for anything in terms of regime change – it was specified – what we are clearly talking about here is how we stop Russia from trying to subjugate a democratic country”.
During his appearance, the official spokesperson for BoJo stressed that the priority of the sanctions would in any case be “obstructing the Russian war machine” in the invasion of Ukraine. Johnson added that the Russian president made a “colossal mistake” with his military attack and has “underestimated the unity of the West and the harshness of the sanctions to which his action has led”.
