Ilya Kiva, a member of the Verkhovna Rada from the Opposition Platform For Life (OPZZH) party, said that three countries could lay claim to some territories that were included in Ukraine during the Soviet era. Kiva announced this in his official Telegram-channel.
Possibility of annexation
The parliamentarian criticized the course towards decommunization, which is being carried out in Ukraine. He allowed the possible annexation of the territories of Ukraine by Hungary, Poland and Romania. Kiva said that they may have claims to the lands of Ukraine.
Now we are waiting for Hungary, Poland and Romania to lay claim to the territory that was received by Ukraine during the “hated, occupying communist regime”
Kiva noted that local residents are receiving second citizenship, so the “annexation” scenario is quite likely. He also pointed out that “it is a sin not to do so.”
Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Volyn, Lviv regions have long prepared for this, having received second citizenship and are looking forward to their “annexation”
Criticism of Zelensky
In the publication, Kiva also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and called him a “clown”. In his opinion, the head of state “does not have long” to hold his post.

The day before, the deputy accused Zelensky of pursuing a criminal policy and said that his actions could provoke the exit of the south-east of the country from its composition. According to Kiva, a “domino effect” will occur in Ukraine, as a result of which the regions of Ukraine will turn to Russian President Vladimir Putin for help. Kiva also announced his intention to sue US President Joe Biden because of his lies about the preparation of a Russian “invasion” of Ukraine.
Putin’s position
On the evening of February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russians on the situation in Ukraine. He stated that the modern country was created by communist Russia after 1917. The Russian leader added that Vladimir Lenin and his associates did it quite rudely, with the help of secession of territories. At the same time, no one knew the opinion of local residents about this.
Nowadays, one can justifiably call “Ukraine named after Vladimir Ilyich Lenin”, he is its author and architect. (…) And now the “grateful” descendants have demolished monuments to Lenin in Ukraine. They call it “decommunization”
Putin added that communist Ukraine arose as a result of the Bolshevik policy. At the same time, he called Lenin the architect of the country. The President added that Ukraine is part of Russian history. He also recalled that on the eve and after the Great Patriotic War, the head of the Soviet government, Joseph Stalin, annexed to the USSR and transferred to the Ukrainian SSR a number of lands that previously belonged to Poland, Romania and Hungary.
Recognition of the DNR and LNR
On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed decrees recognizing the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics and treaties of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with them. The head of state explained the decision by Kiev’s attempt to “re-organize a blitzkrieg in the Donbass, as it already happened in 2014 and 2015.”

According to Putin, Russia “did everything to preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine”, but these aspirations were in vain, since “the essence of the regime itself” in Ukraine remains the same.
Earlier, on February 21, the heads of the DPR and LPR, Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, asked Putin to recognize the independence of the republics. Pushilin also urged the Russian leader to consider the possibility of concluding an agreement on friendship and cooperation, including in the defense sector.
The situation in the Donbass escalated sharply on February 17. The self-proclaimed republics and Kiev began to accuse each other of numerous violations of the truce. In the DPR and LPR, they announced a general mobilization and organized a mass evacuation of residents to Russia.
“Invasion” of Ukraine
Over the past few months, Kiev and Western countries have been accusing Russia of pulling troops to the borders of Ukraine and preparing a military offensive. Moscow has repeatedly denied the existence of such aggressive plans. Russian President Vladimir Putin called NATO’s statements about the impending “invasion” alarmist.

On February 20, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the situation on the line of contact in the Donbass was escalated to the maximum. “Any spark, any unplanned incident or any small planned provocation can lead to irreparable consequences,” he warned. Peskov added that the dates announced in the West about the alleged “invasion” of Russia in Ukraine threaten with bad consequences.
