The agreement for a humanitarian corridor between Russia and Ukraine appears to be far from being put into practice. On Saturday, Russian and Ukrainian officials exchanged accusations over failure to comply with a partial ceasefire agreement in Ukraine. Moscow even announced that it would stop attacks to establish so-called humanitarian corridors and allow civilians to escape.

According to Folha de S.Paulo, the disrespect for the truce period made Ukraine postpone a plan to evacuate people in the cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha, in the southeast of the country. Amid the exchange of accusations, Ukrainian officials say negotiations with Moscow to evacuate civilians are continuing.
The deal is estimated to go into effect at 10 am Moscow time (4 am GMT) and would include Mariupol and Volnovakha, which are surrounded by Russian forces.
However, the Mariupol Legislature accused Russian troops of not keeping their promises. In a statement, it said the Russians were negotiating a ceasefire along the entire evacuation route. But without confirmation, the city government asked residents to return to shelters “for safety reasons”.
