UEFA has decided to call an extraordinary meeting of its Executive Committee for this Friday to evaluate the situation and take the necessary decisions, given the evolution of events in the last 24 hours between Russia and Ukraine.

“Following the evolution of the situation between Russia and Ukraine in the last 24 hours, the UEFA President has decided to convene an extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee for Friday 25 February at 10:00 CET, in order to assess the situation and make all the necessary decisions,” the organization announced in a statement.

UEFA had scheduled a meeting of its Executive Committee for Tuesday, March 22 and is very aware of the evolution of the facts, especially taking into account that Saint Petersburg is the city designated to host the Champions League final of this edition.

Names of possible alternatives have already begun to emerge. From English media points to Wembley.
