The Union of Teaching Cooperatives of the Region of Murcia, Ucoerm, celebrates tomorrow, Thursday, April 28, its XXXVII Ordinary General Assembly. The event, which will take place at the Hotel Nelva from 4:30 p.m., will be attended by the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras; the Minister of Education, Mabel Campuzano; the general director of Educational Centers and Infrastructures, Jesús Pellicer Martínez; the general director of Vocational Training and Innovation, Juan García Iborra; the general director of Human Resources, Educational Planning and Evaluation, Víctor Javier Marín Navarro; and the General Director of Social Economy and Self-Employment, Antonio Pasqual de Riquelme; among other representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Business, Employment, Universities and Spokesperson.
The event will also be attended by regional deputies and municipal representatives from the different town councils in the region, as well as educational bodies, Social Economy organizations, financial entities and CEPAIM, a foundation that maintains a close collaboration with Ucoerm through the Emprender para Include.
An attendance of more than two hundred teaching cooperative members representing the centers associated with Ucoerm is estimated, who, in addition, on this occasion, will vote for the members of the Governing Council and the organization’s controller for the next four years. In the same way, the electoral assembly that will be held in parallel to the Ordinary General Assembly, will host the re-election of Juan Antonio Pedreño as president of Ucoerm, being the only candidate who runs for the position.
Throughout the event, the organization’s memory for 2021 will be reported, both on the actions carried out and the economic balance of the past year. Ucoerm will also present, as usual at its Ordinary General Assembly, the Management Plan for this 2022.
Future challenges and improvement of skills
Ucoerm faces 2022 immovable in its objectives of promotion, defense and visualization of cooperative education, as it has been demonstrating since its foundation.
According to its president, Juan Antonio Pedreño, “Ucoerm works to strengthen the educational model of teaching cooperatives and to defend, at all times, the demands and interests of the sector.” In this sense, he indicates, “we have made progress and achieved significant institutional commitments, and we have actively participated in promoting decisive policies for the growth and consolidation of cooperative education. But we must continue rowing towards the future, growing and building. We can only move forward if we do it together, and that is why the work and drive of each of the cooperatives and cooperative members is so important.”
The maintenance of the units; the recovery of the ratios of teachers in infant and primary; respect for the freedom of decision of the educational center; the demand for a school map and a network of centers or the maintenance and renewal of agreements with the Ministry of Education in relation to centers in crisis, the entire module or pay homologation; they have been and continue to be some of the main banners of Ucoerm.
So is the improvement of the skills of the teaching staff and the professionalization of the management of its teaching cooperatives, which is why the organization makes a wide range of training available to its associated cooperatives. In addition to the Digital Transition and Education digitization project. Binomio de Futuro, Ucoerm is currently immersed in the III edition of the University Expert Course on Teaching Cooperatives.

During the celebration of the XXXVII Ordinary General Assembly of Ucoerm, a space will be dedicated to learning about the process of building a village and a school in Anantapur (India) thanks to the donation of more than 50,000 euros, by the Vicente Ferrer Foundation. that the educational cooperatives associated with Ucoerm and the organization itself carried out last year.
The donation will make it possible to build decent housing for residents in the area and build a school that will function in the spirit of the educational cooperatives that have made it possible with your help.
All the human and material resources used in the construction are local, so, in addition to the social and educational impact of the project, it also contributes to boosting the local economy, generating new jobs and strengthening small businesses.
The event will also serve to remember and promote the campaign launched by Ucoerm and Ucomur to collaborate with the Ukrainian people, both with refugee families arriving in the Region of Murcia, and with those who are still on the border or have crossed to neighboring countries.
