The United Arab Emirates University announced the funding of the “Summer Research Program for Students” (SURE+) for 189 research projects with the participation of 803 male and female students from various colleges and specializations this year, as part of its initiatives aimed at providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep pace with the needs of the future labor market, bringing the total number of projects Summer research funded by the program includes 618 research projects, as the university funded 225 research projects with the participation of 969 male and female students in 2023, and 204 research projects with the participation of 868 students in 2022, as the program aims to prepare future generations to play an effective role in community development.
In detail, the Office of the Associate Vice President for Scientific Research at the UAE University has developed an ambitious strategy to enhance the culture of scientific research among students, and encourage them to participate in research projects by providing opportunities to analyze real data and research results. These projects provide students with the opportunity to participate in international conferences.
Associate Professor for Scientific Research, Dr. Ahmed Murad, stressed the importance of supporting student research, as the UAE University believes that scientific research is one of the basic pillars of higher education, indicating that by funding these projects, the university aims to motivate students to innovate and explore, and enhance their abilities. To meet future challenges in innovative and sustainable ways.
He said: “The funded projects aim to cover a wide range of academic and scientific fields, including natural sciences, engineering, technology, medicine, social sciences and humanities, and the financial support provided includes covering research costs, including the necessary materials, research tools, and technology used.” In addition to providing a suitable environment for students to conduct their research.”
While the university explained that the summer research projects funded this year are divided into: 34 projects for the College of Science, 42 projects for the College of Engineering, 34 projects for the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, nine projects for the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, 24 projects for the College of Information Technology, and 15 projects for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. There are 17 projects for the College of Administration and Economics, 13 projects for the College of Education, and one project for the College of Law.
The Office of the Associate Vice President for Scientific Research intends to hold a conference in 2025 to present the results of research and summer projects and discuss them with the university community and the local community, emphasizing the importance of constructive communication with partners to develop and improve research outcomes.
