The Mossos d’Esquadra have arrested Blanes (Girona) to two young people of 20 and 21 years old as alleged perpetrators of two attacks on homeless people of the town, one of them allegedly involved, in addition, in two other attacks by aporophobia that occurred last October.
These two arrests are added to the four made by the Catalan police on October 1, also in the same municipality for similar facts.
Sources from the Mossos have explained that the events for which these two young people have now been arrested took place last August in the aforementioned Girona town and that, in the course of the investigation, it was learned that one of them was also involved in the October attacks.
The young people were arrested last Thursday and are accused of the injury crimes and against fundamental rights and public freedoms. The investigation into these attacks, according to the same sources, remains open.
In October, different experts warned about the underreporting of hate crimes linked to aporophobia or rejection of the poor, during a round table within the framework of the II International Congress of Aporophobia led by IQS-URL, which was held in Barcelona and that “it is necessary to give visibility to the problem to make the complaint possible by of the victims”.
