CIUDAD REAL.- The protests of French farmers are once again taking their toll on Castilla-La Mancha production, in this case at the expense of the trade agreement reached between the European Union and Mercosur, which has served as an excuse for them to forcibly spill the white wine transported by two tankers from Campo de Criptanain the province of Ciudad Real.
Events that have taken place in the Le Boulou tollon the A9 highway, where since early this Tuesday French farmers, summoned by the Rural Coordination union (CR), have blocked the entry of trucks from Spain on the highway through the La Junquera border crossing.
One more action in the protests that are spreading again through the neighboring country due to the agreement reached between the EU and the Mercosur trading bloc, made up of Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Bolivia, considering that it would create unfair competition by increasing South American agricultural imports, which would threaten their livelihood.
Protests that once again affect Spanish producers, to which the socialist MEP Cristina Maestre has reacted through social networks, who considers it “inadmissible” that they should once again be “victims of sabotage” in French territory.
In this sense, Maestre points out that “legitimate protests cannot always be paid for by the same people” and trusts that both the French and community authorities will react to what happened.
